Curse

So now I'm far eough a long and I'm starting to get some drops (mostly purple unidentified). When I identify it, I get something like:

"Insightful Accursed Staff of Fortitude"
Dark Dmg 8-14 (req. 8 Curses)

After identofying it, it displays two pop ups saying something...and then it has extra stats:

Energy: +1
Health: +24

Can someone explained what happened? Is this a rune? A special unlocked skill or just a drop that when Identified has some extra bonuses unlocked. Do I do anything special with it?

It happened again a few minutes later with some big hammer and said I had some handle or something..kinda cluless here...

If the hammer has a handle then it can be removed using an EXPERT salvage kit. Not so sure about the Insightful Acccursed Staff of Fortitude (heh, I even think I have one in my inventory), but since it is purple and extra stats, I suspect you can get handles (or similar) from it..

Might be wrong. I usually stash these items in case some of my other characters need them.

When you identify an item and you see a pop-up, that means you have unlocked that item for use in PvP.

In your case, when you make a PvP character you can now modify its staff type weapon with a +1 energy and +24 health modification.

If you decide to salvage the item with an expert kit, the original item will be destroyed and you will receive one of a +1 energy item, a +24 health item (both used to modify other staves) or a heap of wooden planks.
